A 28-year-old man from Valrico was killed yesterday morning in a deadly Hillsborough train accident. The accident happened when the man walked into the path of the train because he didn’t hear it coming and didn’t see the warning signal. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
Troopers say that the man died at the scene when he was walking west on the sidewalk and crossed the railroad track. He was listening to music with his earphones at the time of the accident and was not paying attention to where the train was located.
He stepped in front of the train, which was pulling 63 cars at the time. Traffic was blocked for some time while the accident scene was cleared.
