Alachua County, FL - Passenger Killed in Monday Car Accident on State Road 24

Alachua County, FL (May 25, 2020) - Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash in Alachua County on Monday, May 25th. The crash was reported just before 2:00 a.m. on State Road 24.

According to a report, a 24-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on S.R. 24 when their vehicle left the roadway and struck a mailbox and several trees before coming to rest. A 29-year-old passenger was ejected from the car following the crash. The passenger died at the crash scene while the driver was taken to UF Health Shands in unknown condition. The cause of the crash has not been released and neither the driver nor the passenger were immediately identified.

There is no additional information available.
