Last night, a DUI-related accident led to injuries to a 10-year-old, which eventually landed a woman in prison.
The accident took place at 10:35 p.m. and occurred when a 55-year-old, Sheila Maureen Dixon, failed to yield the right of way in her Dodge Nitro at an intersection. A 26-year-old woman named Yolanda Clara Lee, aged 26, entered the intersection in a Buick and the two vehicles collided.
Amarius Hodges was a 10-year-old passenger in Lee’s vehicle at the time and suffered minor injuries, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
When officers arrived at the scene, they arrested Dixon for DUI with property damage and failure to yield right of way. She is now in the Okaloosa County Jail and is being held without bond while awaiting her first appearance.
