A 60-year-old Ocala woman died as a result of the accident. The woman was identified as Sandra Clarkson. She died four days after the three-vehicle wreck that was caused by Welk. Her 18-year-old daughter was also in the vehicle at the time.
According to troopers, Welk hit them from behind when she was driving along the roadway. Welk was charged with DUI.

A hit-and-run crash with injuries was reported on I-95 in Vero Beach. The crash happened around 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17th. Troopers arrived at the scene around 8:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the roadway near Oslo Road. According to reports, the crash involved a box truck and another vehicle. The box truck rolled over as a result of the impact. The other vehicle fled the scene before police could arrive. Emergency crews were at the scene assisting at least one of the injured victims.
