Boca Raton, FL (April 6, 2021) - A 17-year-old boy died in a crash on the Florida's Turnpike on Tuesday. The accident took place in the southbound lanes near mile marker 74 in Boca Raton.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to troopers, at least one vehicle was seen upside down in the middle lanes of the roadway. There is no word on the cause of the collision at this time or the number of vehicles involved. The collision resulted in all lanes of the Turnpike being closed until approximately 4:00 p.m. Police have not said how many people were injured as a result of the collision.

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there are more than 3,000 fatalities in Florida car accidents each year. One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a crash that took place on I-75 in Naples on Monday, January 4th. The crash happened near mile marker 42. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 26-year-old woman from Tampa was driving westbound on I-75 when she collided with another vehicle. The Tampa woman's vehicle veered off the roadway and came to rest in the median of the roadway. An 18-year-old passenger in the second vehicle was killed in the accident and the 16-year-old driver was seriously hurt. The woman from Tampa also suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center. No one involved in the crash has been identified at this time. Read more
