Boca Raton, FL (July 23, 2018) – Boca Raton police came to the scene of a serious incident that happened today when armed robbery suspects crashed into a palm tree. Young men were pulled from the SUV and frisked. The Acura’s front end was crumpled and smoking as it sat on the roadway near Interstate 95.
According to authorities who were present at the scene, seven people were hurt in total. The people who were injured included the robbery victim, those inside the Acura, and two other crash patients. They were not identified by police as of yet, as the investigation into the matter continues.
The incident started in a parking lot office when two men, one of which was armed, robbed man of his wallet and cellphone. The two suspects then fled the scene but the robbery victim could not keep his sights on them. The two suspects then got into an SUV with three other people inside. The Acura traveled onto South Dixie Highway and officers tried to stop it, but it sped away from the scene.
The officers stuck stop sticks on the road, which caused the SUV’s tires to become deflated. This caused a collision with two vehicles, and eventually caused the SUV to crash into a palm tree.
Police are still taking a closer look at the incident.
