Boca Raton, FL (November 11, 2018) - A man from Boca Raton is dead following a motorcycle crash on Wednesday, November 7th.
Police say that 38 year old Jessie Costa was riding a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R in the 600 block of Powerline Road around 9:20 pm. At the same time, 58 year old Ellen Beaulieu was driving a 2008 Ford Expedition in the opposite direction on Powerline Road. Beaulieu then turned left onto Northwest Sixth Street in front of Costa's motorcycle.
Costa attempted stop the motorcycle by hitting the brakes, however, he lost control of the bike and skidded into the passenger side of the Honda. Costa died at the scene of the crash. Beaulieu remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time.
A serious motorcycle accident can occur at any time. No one expects that they will be involved in a serious crash when they get on the road. The reality though is that there are approximately 250,000 injury accidents reported each year in Florida and many of these accidents will, unfortunately, involve serious injury. Approximately 14% of all traffic deaths involve motorcycles.
When you are hurt in an accident that was not your fault, you have legal rights. The other driver, as well as your own insurance company, may be responsible for payment of your medical bills and other damages related to the accident. In these situations, you should speak with an experienced Florida personal injury attorney.
