Bradenton, FL (June 21, 2019) - Officials have released the name of the motorcyclist who was killed on Manatee Avenue West earlier this week. The crash took place on Wednesday, June 19th.
The Bradenton Police Department reports that 21-year-old Grace Tranc was the victim in the fatal crash. Tranc, of Bradenton, was riding her motorcycle on Manatee Avenue when she collided with a car. The motorcycle became pinned beneath the car. Rescue workers arrived on the scene to assist Tranc but she would later succumb to her injuries. The driver of the car is yet to be identified. The crash caused all lanes of Manatee Avenue to be closed from approximately 12:45 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The investigation is still active and there is no word whether any charges will be filed at this time.
We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Grace Tranc in the aftermath of this tragic incident in Bradenton. Sadly, fatal motorcycle crashes are a common occurrence in Florida. Although motorcycles represent only about 3% of all registered motor vehicles, they also make up nearly 18% of all traffic fatalities. This is a much higher proportion than any other type of vehicle crash in our state. The limited protection offered by motorcycles means that crashes are often severe or fatal.
