Cape Coral, FL (March 9, 2019) - A 35-year-old man from Cape Coral lost his life in a tragic motorcycle crash that took place on US-41 on Saturday, March 9th. Authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol have identified the deceased motorcyclist as Justin Bent.
Police say that Bent was riding a 2010 Kawasaki Vulcan on US-41 near Arrowhead Boulevard around 3:00 p.m. At the same time, 85-year-old Max Hamock was operating a 2019 Chevy Equinox on Arrowhead Boulevard. Hamock approached a stop sign but failed to yield, causing the Equinox to collide with Bent's oncoming motorcycle. Bent attempted to swerve to avoid a collision, but the bike struck the front of the car, ejecting Bent and throwing him onto the roadway. Bent later died from his injuries.
Hamock stopped at the scene of the crash and cooperated with the law enforcement investigation. There is no information on any potential charges.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the friends and loved ones of Justin Bent, and we hope they are able to find peace and strength after this horrific loss.
