Cape Coral, FL (April 30, 2019) - Two men from Cape Coral are dead following a wrong-way crash on Monday, April 29th, which took place on Southwest Pine Island Road just after 10:00 p.m.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, 46-year-old Kevin Hamm was driving a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan in the westbound lanes of the roadway. 20-year-old Christian Hamm was a passenger in the vehicle. At the same time, 35-year-old Frederick Bohl V was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram the opposite way. The driver's side of the ram collided with the front passenger side of the minivan, forcing the minivan to roll over following the impact.
Kevin Hamm died at the crash scene, while Christian Hamm was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Bohl sustained minor injuries.
Bohl was arrested for DUI causing property damage and DUI manslaughter.
Our thoughts are with the families of Kevin and Christian Hamm in this tragic Cape Coral crash. Impaired drivers continue to cause serious injuries and fatalities across our state. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is extremely reckless and places everyone on the roadway at risk of being involved in a major crash.
