According to the Florida, Highway Patrol, a 51-year-old man named Ronald Thomas was walking along SR 24 at the edge of the road. Fatal crashes claim the life of approximately 3 people per day across our state. About 25% of all reported crashes involve hit-and-run. In any car crash, a driver has a legal responsibility to remain at the scene of the crash. When the driver leaves the scene instead, they face serious criminal as well as civil trouble resulting from the accident.
In this crash, it appears as though Adrian Johns made a poor decision to drive while under the influence and, in turn, killing a pedestrian. The family of Ronald Thomas may have the right to bring a wrongful death case against Johns for his negligence leading to this crash.
