Two girls were killed and five were injured, all between the ages of 12-14, in an accident involving a stolen car in Pompano Beach. We initially reported on the accident and said that the Toyota sedan was heading west on Northwest 15th Street when the vehicle veered off the road and slammed into a metal crossing arm by some railroad tracks, then flipping over.
Two of the girls died and the others were taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Police did not want to discuss where the kids were at the time and when the car was stolen. The crash is still being investigated.
Family members identified one of the girls who passed away as 12-year-old Chayanna Nesmith. Her sister, 13-year-old Teeana Nesmith, was injured in the accident.
