Clearwater, FL (June 23, 2018) – A woman was cited after a crash involving a Pinellas deputy. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.
The accident took place on Thursday, according to responding deputies. The woman who caused the accident was identified as 23-year-old Miranda Clark of Clearwater. She was cited for failing to yield and received injuries in the accident. The other driver was identified as 40-year-old Deputy Justin Gould. He has worked at the department since November 2016.
The crash took place around 10:42 p.m. at the intersection of Missouri Avenue and Santa Rosa Street. Gould was driving north on Missouri Avenue in his unmarked Dodge Charger, on duty at the time. Clark stopped at a stop sign and started to turn in front of the deputy, causing a collision. The officer hit the front driver’s side of her vehicle.
At this time, deputies do not believe that impairment or speed played a role in the crash.
Many people will become injured in serious accidents every year due to driver error when negligence takes place. In Florida, 250,000 people were injured in accidents in just 2017 alone.
