Coconut Creek, FL (July 29, 2018) – In Coconut Creek, a man was pronounced dead following a freak accident where he fell from the back of a vehicle. The man was riding in the back of a pickup truck and was killed after he tried to secure a mattress.
The truck was traveling east on Copans Road when the mattress and victim flew out the back and ended up on the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. His identity has not yet been released.
The Coconut Creek police department said that there is a possibility that, when he fell, he was also struck by another vehicle. All vehicles involved in the accident stayed at the scene for police questioning.
On Saturday night, the roadway was closed for several hours while an investigation took place.
Freak accidents take place on our roadways every year, which are those that we least expect that end in serious injuries and fatalities.
