Collier County, FL (February 11, 2020) - The two victims in a fatal crash involving a truck and a motorcycle have been identified. The crash took place on Sunday, February 9th along US 41 in Collier County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 42-year-old Hubert Burey, an off-duty Palm Beach Sheriff's deputy, was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson eastbound on US 41 near Burns Road. 38-year-old Jamie Lynn French was a passenger on the Harley. At the same time, a Dodge Ram was traveling the opposite direction on US 41 when it turned left in front of Burey's motorcycle causing a collision between the two vehicles. Both Burey and French were pronounced dead as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.
The driver of the Ram, who has not been identified, was not hurt in the crash. Troopers believe that the Ram violated the motorcycles right of way but there is no information on whether any charges are expected at this time.
We wish to extend our most sincere condolences to the families of Hubery Burey and Jamie Lynn French following this tragic crash in Collier County.
Fatal crashes are reported every three hours in Florida. There is nothing more devastating than losing a loved one so suddenly and unexpectedly. The loss is even more difficult when your loved one was taken too soon as a result of another motorist. Unfortunately, these types of collisions continue to claim lives as negligent drivers fail to drive carefully and cause catastrophic crashes as a result.
