Columbia County, FL (January 17, 2020) - A crash between a pickup and tractor-trailer sent one person to the hospital in Columbia County on Thursday, January 16th around 7:45 a.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene near the exit for US 441. According to troopers, 56-year-old Pedro Perez Morales was driving a 1999 Freightliner in the middle lanes. At the same time, 50-year-old Claudio Begona was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 ahead of Morales. Morales veered into the right lane and crashed into the back of Begona's truck. The Dodge then collided with a guardrail and a tree before catching on fire. Begona was taken to the University of Florida Health Shands for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police cited Morales for failing to maintain his lane.
We hope that the victim in this crash makes a quick and complete recovery from his injuries.

Many Florida car accidents cause injury to one or more victims. If the victim was hurt as a result of negligent driving behavior, they may have a claim against the other driver under Florida's personal injury law.
