DeSoto County, FL (May 28, 2021) - A 22-year-old man was killed in a car accident that took place in DeSoto County on Friday afternoon. The collision happened on U.S. Highway 17 near the intersection with Skates Street.
According to police, the male victim was crossing east to west on horseback. As he crossed the road, the man was hit by a car and suffered critical injuries. The unidentified victim was taken to a nearby hospital for additional treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. The SUV driver was not hurt in the accident.
The crash is being investigated by authorities. At this time, there is no additional information available.

Two children suffered serious injuries in a two-car crash that took place in Putnam County on Friday, September 6th. The crash occurred on State Road 20 around 6:00 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene in response to the collision. According to reports, a 2006 Ford F-150 was driving eastbound on SR 20 behind a 2016 Kia Sedona. The driver of the Sedona slowed to make a left turn, however, the truck failed to stop and crashed into the back of the van. The van continued on before crashing into a sign and a palm tree.
