Yesterday, two people died on Orange Blossom Trail when a man driving a stolen vehicle crashed into a pole with such force that it split the car in half. The man was driving a stolen 2010 Kia Soul at the time when he lost control, left the roadway, and hit the pole. Officers saw and followed the vehicle when they discovered that it had been stolen, but they were not in pursuit at the time.
Authorities arrived on the scene of the accident to find that the vehicle was split and that nobody inside had been wearing seatbelts. The cause of death was the passengers being ejected from the vehicle.
The driver has not yet been identified but was killed on the scene. 17-year-old Darrin Grant also lost his life. The other passenger, Traynard Poiter, a 19-year-old, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with severe injuries.
