Florida (July 24, 2018) – A helpful woman from Decatur is recovering in a Florida hospital after she tried to save a family. 36-year-old Atira Marshall was on her way home from a Florida family reunion when she got out of her vehicle to help a driver in another vehicle. Suddenly, Marshall was struck by another vehicle.
While Marshall was trying to get help for the driver, another driver was traveling down Interstate 75 and didn’t see her. It happened so fast, and suddenly the vehicle struck her and ran over her. Marshall said she felt the impact and a burning sensation. She flipped in the air and fell down on the concrete. She felt pain in her leg.
Medics took Marshall to the hospital. Following three emergency surgeries, they told her that they were unable to save her leg. She is now recovering in the hospital and said she would do it all over again if she could save somebody.
