Fort Myers, FL (November 27, 2019) - A 5-year-old girl was killed after being struck while playing in a driveway in Fort Myers. The crash occurred on Tuesday, November 26th on Cypress Drive.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. According to officials, Samantha Castro Martinez was in a driveway when she was hit by a Jeep driven by 43-year-old Julio Gonzalez. Gonzalez collided with the child as he was turning into the driveway. The girl was rushed to Lee Memorial Hospital where she died due to her injuries. Martinez was not a resident of the home at which she was playing. There is no word at this time on whether Gonzalez faces any charges.
An investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released.
