Fort Myers, FL (December 19, 2018) - A woman from Fort Myers died after she crashed into a pickup truck on Tuesday, December 18th.
28-year-old Kassandra Danielle Alsept was traveling in a Nissan Frontier around 10:18 pm. As she was driving in the southbound lanes of I-75 she collided with the rear end of a 2014 tow truck which was pulling a Dodge Ram pickup at the time. The pickup became unsecured by the collision and rolled over the top of Alsept's vehicle. She suffered critical injuries and died at the crash scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash. At this time, there is no further information available as police continue to look into the incident.
A fatal crash is reported about every three hours in Florida. Rear-end crashes have the potential to cause devastating injuries and even death in some cases. The primary factors that will influence the seriousness of a rear-end crash are the speed of the vehicle at the time of impact and whether the driver had any time to react to the circumstances in order to slow down or attempt to partially avoid a collision. In a direct rear-end crash at high speeds, the results are often very severe. Our thoughts are with the family of Kassandra Alsept following this tragic event in Fort Myers.
