Today, a man surrendered to authorities for DUI manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, and leaving the scene of a crash that ended in a fatality. His name is Gerald Baldie and he is being held in prison at the moment.
Family members of the couple that he killed about two years ago were at the court hearing. The two who lost their lives were 35-year-old Steven Olivert and 32-year-old Danielle Baldwin. The couple was celebrating their 12th anniversary when Baldie struck the rear of their Nissan at a red light. The impact caused another vehicle to strike the couple, killing one at the scene and another when he was taken off life support at the hospital.
Baldie fled the scene of the accident because he had smoked marijuana before the crash. He had non-life-threatening injuries after the crash.
