Hernando County, FL (August 3, 2019) - A woman from Brooksville died when her mini-bike crashed into a van. The accident happened on Friday, August 2nd, around 2:45 p.m.
Police say that 39-year-old Jayne Elaine Hamlet was riding a 2018 Cole mini-bike. Hamlet was turning out of a residential driveway onto Weeping Wilow Street when she collided with a 2003 Ford E-250 traveling northbound on Weeping Willow. Hamlet was taken to Oak Hill Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. She was not wearing a helmet. The Ford driver has not been identified.

A 74-year-old man from Mount Dora is dead following a head-on crash on State Road 46, near Camp Challenge Road. The accident took place on Saturday, May 25th, around 6:00 p.m. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, 74-year-old Gilbert Freeman was driving a 2015 Toyota in the westbound lanes when his vehicle suddenly veered into the eastbound lanes. While in the eastbound lanes, Freeman's car collided with a 2016 Jeep SUV, driven by 54-year-old Patricia Smith, of Deltona. The impact resulted in fatal injuries for Freeman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Read more
