Hernando County, FL (August 14, 2018) – A Lecanto man lost his life following a serious and fatal pickup truck accident on Saturday. The accident happened when the man drove his vehicle in front of a pickup truck in Hernando County.
20-year-old Erik William Hoxie was driving his Acura southbound in the left turning lane approaching the intersection of Vespa Way. 71-year-old Raymond and Stella Magliano were traveling northbound in the outside lane of US 19. They were coming toward the same intersection in their pickup truck.
Hoxie suddenly turned his Integra into the path of the pickup truck, causing it to strike the passenger side. When paramedics arrived at the scene, they transported Hoxie to the hospital. However, he later died due to his injuries.
Raymond and Stella both had varying serious and minor injuries and were also treated at the hospital. Police said that alcohol was not a factor in the accident and that everybody was wearing a seatbelt.
The investigation continues at this time.
