Our thoughts go out to the family of the man killed in this tragic Hillsborough County bicycle accident. Bicycling is an activity that many people do for fun or for exercise and is a good alternative to driving. In some cases, however, it can turn tragic on a moment's notice.
Each year, Florida experiences more than 100 deaths related to bicycle crashes. The cause of each crash must be closely examined. Both bicyclists and drivers should follow basic safety precautions such as observing all traffic laws and maintaining a proper lookout for all other traffic on the road. Bicyclists should ride in visible clothing and should ride only during the daytime or in well-lit areas at nighttime.
