Hillsborough County, FL (May 12, 2020) - A teenager was killed in a two-car crash that took place in Hillsborough County on Tuesday, May 12th. The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m on I-75 near mile marker 251 and Gibsonton Drive.
According to a report, an 18-year-old from Brandon was driving a sedan along the inside lane of the highway when he attempted to pass a pickup truck driven by a 58-year-old man from Bradenton. As the sedan overtook the truck, it clipped the left front rear of the truck. The sedan then entered the median of the roadway and overturned before coming to rest. An 18-year-old passenger was thrown from the vehicle after impact. That victim later died at a local hospital. The driver and a 17-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. The 58-year-old truck driver was not injured.
The crash is still under investigation at this time and there is no word on whether any charges are expected.
