Holder, FL (August 18, 2018) – A 53-year-old Morriston man was killed in an intersection accident yesterday afternoon. The accident happened on US 41 just south of the intersection with County Road 491.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that, at the time, Claude Pepper Blount Jr. was driving south around 1:50 p.m. in a 1999 Toyota Camry. Blount rear-ended a 2000 Mack truck near Overdrive Circle. Blount’s car then spun around and came to rest on the west shoulder of the highway.
The Mack truck was being driven by 52-year-old Dean Robert Doroban. It came to a controlled stop. He and his passenger, 57-year-old Alan Simpkins, were not injured in the accident.
Blount, however, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Both drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time. Police continue to investigate at this time.
