Jacksonville Beach, FL (July 13, 2019) - A 22-year-old man from South Carolina died after he was struck by a suspected impaired driver in Jacksonville Beach. On Thursday, July 11th, police responded to 2nd Street North in response to calls regarding a pedestrian crash.
When officials arrived, they located Bryn Turner at the scene. Turner had been struck by a vehicle and suffered critical injuries. He was pronounced dead by rescue workers. According to a bystander, Turner was with another man and they were walking together when he was hit by the car. The other pedestrian did not appear to suffer any serious injuries.
After an investigation, police located the driver. He has been identified as 31-year-old Joshua Lovingood, of Jacksonville. Toxicology tests were ordered and officers suspect that both speed and alcohol played a role in the crash. Charges are pending the results of the tests.
