Jacksonville, FL (September 5, 2018) - A total of five vehicles were involved in a crash on I-295 in Jacksonville Tuesday morning. Authorities were called to the crash scene just after 6:00 am. When they arrived, officials discovered one vehicle located in the roadway flipped over onto its side. Four other vehicles were also involved in the crash.
An initial investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol reveals that 60 year old Edwin Harwell was traveling on 295 when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle and caused a chain reaction style crash with the other cars. A 10 year old girl and a 34 year old woman in separate vehicles suffered injuries in the crash. Fortunately, their injuries are not believed to be serious or life-threatening.
Harwell was charged with careless driving for his role in the collision.
All northbound lanes of the road were blocked after the crash. The lanes remained closed for nearly three hours before re-opening around 9:00 am.
Car accidents can happen anywhere at any time. With over 400,000 accidents reported annually, the odds of becoming a Florida car accident victim are unfortunately fairly high.
