Jacksonville, FL (March 20, 2019) - A young motorcyclist lost his life in a crash on San Jose Boulevard, near Loretto Road, on Tuesday, March 19th.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 8:00 p.m. Investigators were able to determine that 20-year-old Alexander Dennis was riding his motorcycle on San Jose when he collided with a Volkswagen. Dennis suffered critical injuries and later died at the hospital. The Volkswagen driver was not hurt.
Police have not said how the crash took place. No further details were available.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Alexander Dennis in this tragic Jacksonville motorcycle accident.
Approximately 14% of all traffic-related deaths involve motorcycles. This is an astounding number when considering that just 3% of all registered motor vehicles are motorcycles. Clearly, riding a motorcycle carries a great risk of death or serious bodily injury in the event of a crash.
Motorcycle riders should always exercise caution and ensure that they are complying with all rules of the road. However, accidents will inevitably occur, even if a motorcycle rider complies with all laws and safety precautions. This crash is an example of a tragedy with irreversible consequences occurring on a moment's notice.
