While in the westbound lanes, the car collided with the motorcycle head-on. Both the driver of the car as well the motorcyclist suffered injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Motorcycle accidents occur quite frequently in Florida and are usually severe in nature. Motorcycle accidents account for about 14% of all traffic-related deaths, despite the fact that only about 3% of all registered motor vehicles are motorcycles.
In this crash, it appears as though the motorcyclist was an innocent victim when the car crossed the center line. Although the exact cause is unknown, the vehicle driver will be held legally responsible for negligent driving behavior.
