Jacksonville, FL (December 22, 2018) - A four-vehicle crash on the Dames Point Bridge left one person injured on Friday, December 21st. The crash took place just before 1:00 pm.
Police say that a white tow truck, a black pickup truck, a red sedan, and a blue semi-truck were all traveling northbound near the bridge. The tow truck became disabled and stopped in the right lane. The black pickup truck swerved to avoid a collision but hit the tow truck, causing both vehicles to slide into oncoming traffic. The pickup then collided with the red sedan which collided with the semi-truck. The force of the collision caused the trailer of the semi to become dislodged and fall into the water. The remained on land, dangling over the bridge.
The pickup truck driver was seriously hurt in the crash. Police blamed the accident on "reckless driving" but have not said which vehicle was at fault or whether any charges will be issued.
