An Ocala, Florida man named Jemel Samuel was killed in an accident when he was struck by a car on Monday night. At the time of the accident, his family believes that he was hitchhiking to another state.
A Ford Focus was driving eastbound at the time of the accident when the driver suddenly struck Jemel. It is believed that, at the time, Jemel was on the road illegally. The driver claimed that he was wearing dark clothing as well.
The driver of the Ford Focus and two passengers also received injuries and they were taken to the hospital.
Drivers have a duty of care to watch out for pedestrians, who we share our roadways with. They are susceptible to some of the most serious crashes, as they have little in the way of protections. If you have lost a loved one in a pedestrian accident, you have options. Call us for more information at Rubenstein Law at 1-800-FL-LEGAL.
Rubenstein Law is dedicated to serving individuals & families injured by the negligence of others. We know first-hand the carnage that can be left behind for our clients and the public at large after an accident. In our news blog, we write about cases of personal injury relevant to our line of work, and we report on news of judgments and appellate cases that affect the rights of personal injury claimants. We feel a responsibility to raise awareness of the injury and tragic loss of life occurring across our state every day.
To those who have been injured or lost a loved one in an accident, we offer our most sincere condolences.
