A 32-year-old Lake City man named Jose Guadalupe was driving east on the highway in Columbia County when his Corolla left the roadway and hit a culvert on Friday.
The moment the vehicle made an impact, it became airborne and flipped several times on the grassy shoulder. Jose Guadalupe had to be pulled from the vehicle by firefighters and was flown to UF Health Gainesville with serious injuries. Guadalupe was the only one in the vehicle at the time and was wearing a seatbelt.
Troopers are still trying to figure out why his vehicle left the roadway.
