Katie Marie Mason lost her life when the vehicle she was in crashed into a barricade Saturday night on Interstate 95 and her pug escaped the vehicle. The pug, Stella, ran onto the highway and Katie Marie Mason followed in an attempt to rescue the dog. However, vehicles struck and killed both of them in a tragic accident.
Many people who have a strong love of animals completely understand why the accident occurred, even though it could have been prevented. Mason was 28 at the time and a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013 for biology.
