Lake Wales, FL (May 19, 2021) - Two men were killed in a single-vehicle crash that took place in Lake Wales on Tuesday. The accident happened on State Road 60 at approximately 7:45 p.m.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, 27-year-old Billy Burgess and 35-year-old Thomas Snipes, III were both killed in the crash. Burgess was identified as the driver of the vehicle. According to a report, Burgess was traveling westbound on State Road 60 when he approached a curve in the roadway. He failed to navigate the curve and the truck crossed over the median before overturning several times and coming to rest. Both Burgess and Snipes were ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other individuals involved.
