According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the two buses from Pepin Academies were traveling northbound on Rockridge. At the same time, a Ford F150 driven by Steven Collins had slowed to make a turn into a driveway. The F150's lights were inoperative at the time. The first bus then collided with the F150 as the bus driver was not able to see the brake lights on the F150. The driver of the second bus struck the rear of the first bus following the initial collision.
