Lakeland, FL (August 3, 2018) – In a Lakeland scooter accident, a woman was struck by a vehicle and a soldier came to her rescue. The soldier saw that she had been struck and jumped into action.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident and found that 40-year-old Kelli Marie Black had been struck by a second vehicle while two good Samaritans, one of which was the soldier, were trying to help her.
Kalen Lawson, the soldier on leave from the Army, was struck in the leg when a second vehicle drove over the chest of Black, which killed her at the scene.
The first suspected driver in the accident was tracked down by police after the incident occurred. However, the driver of the second vehicle has not yet been found.
Police continue to investigate at this time.
