A weekend crash took place in Jacksonville on I-10. The crash happened around 2:18 p.m. on Saturday and ended in two fatalities. At the time, a 1999 Honda Civic was driving eastbound ahead of a pickup truck. The truck was driven by a 16-year-old boy, who rear-ended the Honda.
Both vehicles continued onward and struck the guardrail on the left side.
Passengers of the Honda, 31-year-old Evelyn Lashanon Nichols and 26-year-old Lance Drake, both died at the UF Health Jacksonville Hospital. The third Honda passenger is still in the hospital in critical condition. The 16-year-old boy received minor injuries.
