Largo, FL (October 12, 2018) - Four teens were injured and a school bus driver is facing charges following a crash in Largo on Thursday, October 11th.
Officials say that Bernard Lee Grant of St. Petersburg was operating a school bus on Ulmerton Road around 6:30 am Thursday morning. Grant was traveling in the westbound lane when he came upon a 2015 tractor trailer driven by William A. Morales. The tractor trailer was stopped in the roadway for a red light. Grant failed to slow down and collided with the back of the truck.
Four teenagers aboard the bus suffered non life-threatening injuries. They were taken to All Children's Hospital for treatment. Grant was charged with reckless driving for his role in the crash.
Child safety is the top priority for drivers in charge of transporting students to and from school each day. School bus drivers have a very important job and must always drive cautiously and safely, remaining aware of any potential hazards that could lead to an accident.
In this case, it looks as though the responsibility for the crash lies with Bernard Grant. A driver who fails to stop and causes a crash is negligent in the eyes of the law. When a driver's negligence causes injuries, those hurt in the crash can file a personal injury case seeking to recover damages, including pain and suffering and medical bills incurred due to the accident.
