Levy County, FL (July 31, 2018) – A high-speed crash took place in Levy County on Saturday morning that led to the fatality of a Williston man. The accident occurred on Northeast 50th Street.
Officers said that Bryan Brown was driving his 2008 Chevy Impala at high speeds when it trailed off the roadway. The car glided onto the south shoulder, where it sideswiped several fence posts and a fence. It then started spinning clockwise and eventually rolled over.
Brown was not wearing his seatbelt which caused him to be thrown from the vehicle. He hit several tree branches, and the car came to rest on its roof.
The Florida Highway Patrol was called to investigate. Brown was initially taken to the UF Health Shands Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Research shows that many of the accidents that take place on our roadways are preventable since they're caused by distracted driving and driving under the influence, or at excessive speed. Our condolences are with you if you have lost a loved one in a crash due to another person's negligence.
