A local Stuart pedestrian was killed on Sunday night on Northwest US 1. The man was pronounced dead around 11:54 p.m.
The accident took place when a Dodge Avenger was traveling too quickly on US 1 where the speed limit is posted as 45 mpg. The vehicle then struck the pedestrian. At the time, there were 3 people inside the Dodge.
The man was identified as a local resident. The driver of the Dodge was not impaired at the time and nobody else received injuries.
