Marion County, FL (January 22, 2020) - A crash in Marion County left one person dead and another injured on Tuesday, January 21st. The crash happened along the northbound lanes of US 27.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 62-year-old Eugene Flechas was traveling northbound on 27 in the outside lane. At the same time, 51-year-old Alvaro Navarro was also traveling northbound in the inside lane. For unknown reasons, Flechas collided with the rear of Navarro's vehicle. Flechas was killed in the crash while Navarro suffered serious injuries. There is no word on whether the injuries are life-threatening.
Police are still looking into the crash and no further details have been released at this time.

Greater Naples firefighters responded to the scene in the eastbound lanes of the highway. A man from Immokalee died in a crash that took place in Collier County on Thursday morning. The accident happened on Immokalee Road near Everglades Boulevard. Police say that a 40-year-old Immokalee man was driving an SUV when he tried to pass a pickup truck while traveling westbound on Immokalee. As the driver merged back into their travel lane and struck the side of the truck. The SUV rolled over, ejecting a 43-year-old man from Immokalee. The 43-year-old man died at the scene. The SUV then traveled off the roadway and onto a grass shoulder before coming to rest. There is no word on the identity of the deceased victim and no word on any further injuries. Read more
