Marion County, FL (August 8, 2018) – A 14-year-old teenager is in critical condition following a serious accident after they were driving on the roadway despite being underage. The accident occurred when the teen veered from the roadway on County Road 329 and collided with a fence.
Florida Highway Patrol investigated and found that the teen was driving the vehicle in the eastbound direction. They were traveling around a sudden curve in the road when they lost control of the car near the intersection of NW 125th Street. The vehicle subsequently veered from the street.
The teen then drove back onto the roadway and hit a traffic sign before striking a wooden fence, which broke the windshield and speared the driver. The teen was then taken to the UF Health Shands hospital.
The accident is still under investigation.
