A 22-year-old man was found dead on the side of the road on Thursday morning on Interstate 4 in Polk County. At this time, it is believed that he was killed in a hit-and-run accident.
A passing driver found the body of 22-year-old McKenzie Messick lying on a grassy shoulder around 9:11 a.m. this morning. The crash happened sometime within the past day and the vehicle that hit him probably has some type of front-end damage. Police found a front headlight or turn signal at the scene.

A man was killed in a pedestrian crash that took place in Tampa on Tuesday, May 25th. The crash was reported just after 5:00 a.m. on Harney Road near Hillsborough Avenue. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash scene. Deputies say that a man was walking in the road when he was hit by a vehicle. The unidentified man was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he later died. There is no word on the events leading up to the accident at this time and it is not clear if the driver remained at the scene. Read more
