Melrose, FL (September 29, 2018) – A Palm Coast man was sadly pronounced dead following a two-vehicle crash that took place Thursday night, September 27, south of Keystone Heights, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers stated that the accident occurred in Melrose on State Road 100 at Hillcrest Road.
The vehicle the victim had been driving seemed to have crashed into a tree for reasons that were unknown, according to initial reports. However, further investigation showed that the 45-year-old George Pacheco was killed in the crash when his Nissan Altima collided with an oncoming truck that was also traveling on State Road 100.
Pacheco was the only one to suffer fatal injuries as the driver of the truck involved was transported to UF Health Gainesville with injuries that were classified as minor. All lanes of SR 100 were reported to have been shut down as the initial investigation started, but they were reopened by Friday morning.
No further information has been released in regards to the events that caused this crash. Investigators are currently looking into the incident.
