Our thoughts are with the injured police officer in this accident and we hope for a full and speedy recovery. Excessive speed is one of the leading causes of traffic accidents in Florida. Along with DUI and drowsiness, speeding contributes substantially to the total number of crashes experienced across our state each year. Most traffic accidents are preventable but for the negligence of other drivers. In this case, it appears that speed played a role in the officer being injured.
