66-year-old Michael Wolfe of Cocoa suffered serious injuries when his hood came loose and he crashed into a Lagoon. The accident happened on Monday afternoon when Wolfe was driving east and the hood of his vehicle came loose, flying up and obstructing his view while he drove.
Wolfe struck another Jeep and his vehicle flipped into the Banana River Lagoon. He was temporarily trapped inside. His head luckily remained above water even though his leg was trapped.
When responders came to the scene, they immediately airlifted him to the hospital, as he sustained serious injuries. The other driver involved, 51-year-old Richard Hattal, did not have injuries. The crash is still being investigated.
