Miramar, FL (August 15, 2018) – Three firefighters from Miramar were rescued late Monday when they became stranded inside their vehicle after a live power line fell on the fire engine. The fire engine ran into a low-hanging power line when it was leaving for a call.
A car crashed into a utility pole moments before and the power line was severely damaged. One of the firefighters involved in the accident suffered minor injuries but was not hurt by the actual power line. The power line incident was so severe that it cracked the windshield of the fire engine.
The firefighter who received injuries was quickly taken to the hospital. The accident also affected the entire area and more than 2,000 customers lost service at the time. Crews worked to restore power in the area for several hours after the incident occurred.
