Nassau County, FL (September 14, 2018) - A head-on collision in Nassau County left one person dead and another critically injured. The crash happened on Thursday September 13th on US 17.
Around 9:35 pm, a man was driving northbound on US 17 when he crossed over into the southbound lanes. While in the southbound lanes, his vehicle struck another vehicle head-on. A passenger in the wrong-way vehicle, 37 year old Justin Cribb, was killed from the impact of the collision. The driver of the other vehicle suffered critical injuries and was transported to UF Health. There were no other injuries reported.
There is no word on what caused the driver to travel into the wrong lane. An investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with Justin Cribb and his family during this difficult time. The days and weeks following a serious car accident can be traumatic as the victim, along with friends and family members try to adjust to an unfamiliar situation. Lives can be put on hold indefinitely during the long recovery process from a serious accident.
It appears as though the driver who traveled the wrong way will be held responsible for this crash. If he was in fact negligent in causing the accident, then he will be responsible for all damages resulting from the accident including a potential wrongful death claim to be filed by Cribb's family.
